Fireplace with a view
Ergofocus helps to connect the interior of this tastefully renovated Camberwell home with its natural parkland setting.
There’s a lot to love about this house in Camberwell. In a location coveted for its large family homes with established gardens in picturesque tree-lined streets, this house sits beside a local park and offers a distinctly countrified aspect.
Naturally the owners wanted to make the most of the leafy outlook, which includes two mature garden trees, and improve the family’s connection to the outdoors through the architectural response.
The result is a stunning pavilion in the trees, thoughtfully designed by Andrew Mellios from local Melbourne firm AM Architecture.
The 4.8m height is key, as it allows a full view of the tree canopy. As Andrew explains, “The feeling of being in the new space is of standing on-top the fence, in total connection with the park, with the split level allowing a lofty ceiling to accept the leafy aspect.”
Finding an internal focal point for the space was just as important as the external aspect, and the perfect solution was Oblica’s best selling designer fireplace, the Ergofocus.
The long vertical drop of the Ergofocus suspended fireplace compliments the internal beams beautifully, and mirrors the trunks of the trees outside to further unite the two worlds.
In addition to the new living space the family can now enjoy a new master suite, basement cellar, outdoor entertaining areas and swimming pool – if they can drag themselves away from the warmth and beauty of their fireplace.Enquire about this product
