Vipp Tunnel: A Remote Escape Defined by Landscape & Architecture
Set within the dramatic landscape of Bruny Island, Vipp Tunnel offers a rare kind of escape — one where architecture and nature exist in complete harmony. Surrounded by rolling hills, secluded beaches, open skies and untamed wilderness, the property has been thoughtfully designed as a place to disconnect, slow down and fully immerse in the Tasmanian environment.

The retreat comprises two beautifully designed dwellings — the main Tunnel and the smaller Studio — each carefully positioned to maximise privacy, views and connection to the landscape. Striking brutalist concrete forms are balanced by refined contemporary interiors, creating spaces that feel both grounded and luxurious.

Large expanses of glass frame the ever-changing moods of the outdoors, while the restrained material palette allows the surrounding environment to take centre stage. Every detail throughout the project has been carefully considered to enhance the experience of retreat — from quiet mornings overlooking the landscape to evenings spent gathered by the fire.
Anchoring the main living space is Skantherm’s Shaker fireplace. Its understated sculptural form complements the architecture effortlessly, bringing warmth and atmosphere without overwhelming the calm simplicity of the interiors. Designed by Antonio Citterio, the Shaker’s elevated proportions and clean lines feel perfectly suited to the project’s minimalist yet sophisticated aesthetic.

Vipp Tunnel is more than accommodation — it’s an experience of place. It invites guests to slow down, reconnect and experience Tasmania’s beauty through thoughtful architecture, comfort and immersion in nature.
